Art Supplies

A  big part of my mission is to be able to give art supplies to people with disabilities who might not be able to afford them.I get a lot of supplies recycled from friends and various places. I use freecycle, facebook and other sites to collect art supplies.

I'm an artist who uses recycled art supplies to create art work. That's how I got this ides about the art boxes. I think about how much stuff goes to our landfill that can  be reused, re purposed, and recycled to other people.

Sometimes at the end of the school year people will just toss out their kids leftover art supplies. They don't realize that someone could use those supplies to create art or for another form of expression. \

Growing up it didn't matter that none of my crayons all came from same box of crayons. What put a smile on my face was just the ability to have anything I could use to create art with. I didn't need all 24 colors. Yes it would been nice. Not having all 24 colors in a crayon box made me appreciate what I had more than one would realize. I learned to adapt. I learned that if you mix colors they make new colors.

to be able to take recycled art items and gift them back to others in need brings me great joy! Also sometimes to give new items as well brings me joy.

As of today I have sixteen applicants for art boxes. This shows the need is great! This ministry is not a non profit yet. I am working towards that.

I have a huge box of my own art supplies I'm downsizing working to add to art boxes. Also thanks to a great friend of mine we are able to meet the needs of ten applicants for the month of May. Next week my friend Valerie and I will be going out into the community to deliver art boxes.

We have five children and five adults from the Northeast, Ohio region that we will be delivering art supplies to. This is such a big blessing.

People asked for sketchbooks, paint, crayons, markers, yarn and other items.  I plan to try fill as many boxes as I can. The original plan was to mail boxes. To be able to deliver the ones locally will save money on postage. The goal was to send 3-4 boxes a month. This month due to many blessings received. Ten people will be able to have art supplies.

Each box will also contain resources for artists so they can get connected to programs and organizations around Ohio.
